Leonetto Cappiello (1875 – 1942) was an Italian poster artist who lived much of his life in Paris, France. With no formal training in art, he emerged as one of the leading Italian artist and caricaturist in Paris that eventually succeeded the other famous lithographers as the leading advertising poster designer in Paris. The central focus of this 1926 advertising poster is a large jade coloured asian elephant with an upturned trunk. The green elephant originates from the ancient feng shui culture of China. Not only is the elephant a symbol of strength, vitality, power, and wisdom, the ancient Chinese believed the elephant, a sacred animal in many cultures, can bring prosperity and good fortune. It’s upward-pointing is also said to bring authority, good fortune, money, and goodwill.
Each of our orders are printed individually on demand to ensure quality. Other listings will print your poster on cheap thin bond paper stock that will quickly fade. All our posters are printed on a thick, beautiful, professional matte lithography paper stock.
Our studio also produces prints for artists, and this is the same stock that we use for them. We feel this paper just produces a superior image for all our clients. Once set under glass and in a frame, it looks even better.
This poster may have been digitally cleaned to remove perceived imperfections such as tape marks, creases, and paper tears that may have been part of the original scanned or photographed image.
All prints are standard sizes and will fit in a standard sized frame. Prints are sent well protected in heavy tubing for shipping.
